Say goodbye to shaving and waxing!
Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a laser — an intense, pulsating beam of light — to remove unwanted hair. When passed over the skin, the intense heat of the laser painlessly damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth.
Although laser hair removal is most effective for people who have light skin and dark hair, LaserMedica’s specialists can handle all skin types. . Many clinics are reluctant to treat darker skin because of the specific skills and technology required as well as the risks of burns and hyper-pigmentation. Our laser systems successfully remove hair from:
- The upper lip, chin, beard and jaw line
- Underarms and arms
- Legs and bikini line
- Back and shoulders
- Chest and abdomen
- Nose, neck and ears
Laser hair removal treatments are suitable for both men and women of all skin types, including dark skin. Laser hair removal can also be considered a helpful treatment for people suffering from hirsutism, a condition in which there is excessive hairiness of the body or face. In most cases there is no obvious cause but some patients may have a hormonal disturbance. Hirsutism may also be a feature of menopause. Unwanted hair growth can be an issue for many people of all walks of life and many patients derive great benefit from laser hair removal.
“The Cutera laser provides safe and effective hair removal for all areas of the body. The cooling handpiece makes for better patient comfort and the longer wave length of light allows it to be used safely and effectively on light, dark or tan skin.”

Procedure Time: Depending on the size of the area the session will be fifteen minutes to an hour. We take our time to ensure the best results possible.
Number of Sessions: On average 3 to 8 treatments are needed to acheive optimal results. The number of treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors including hair thickness, the area treated and your hair’s growth cycle. Interestingly, not all hairs are actively growing at the same time and actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. l treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.
Before the Procedure: Avoid using retinol on the area being treated for a week prior to your appointment. Shaving before treatment is also necessary so the laser’s energy can effectively be delivered into the hair follicle rendering it incapable of reproducing hair. For those patients who are more sensitive, a numbing agent can be applied prior to treatment to increase patient comfort.
During the Procedure: The treatment sensation can be described as warm or hot pulses or little like an elastic band snapped against the skin, The laser handpiece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin which greatly increases the comfort level. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.
After the Procedure: Depending on the sensitivity of level of the client, skin may look mildly red or slightly swollen initially after treatment and this may persist for a few minutes to a few hours. Cool compresses may be applied to the treatment area for additional comfort. Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems to be regrowth of hair. Actually, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not regrowing. Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave.
