What is CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing
Carbon Dioxide (C02)Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing removes layers of skin tissue in a fractionated method (columns of skin are removed, leaving the skin surrounding each column intact to aid in healing) to help reduce age spots, fine lines, acne (or other) scars as well as improve skin tone and texture for a noticeably smoother, brighter complexion.
The CO2 Fractional Laser is a recent advancement in the resurfacing treatments available for the treatment of wrinkles deep scars and texture changes in the skin. It is a new volumizing fractional laser perfected for photoaging in just one treatment. By using a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, which can go deeper into the subcutaneous tissue in a single treatment, a more effective result is achieved than through the use of topical treatments and less invasive than surgical facelifts..
LaserMedica uses the Pearl Fractional Laser which offers the best combination of patient experience and recovery time. Pearl is a third generation, ablative fractional resurfacing, single treatment laser that offers a powerful and effective treatment and yields far superior results to older generations of fractional lasers. It can treat the entire face and is uniquely effective in the delicate periorbital (around the eyes) and perioral (around the mouth) areas. These areas often show the first signs of aging and can be the most challenging to treat.
This treatment shortens healing time and stimulates the body’s own natural process for creating new collagen, plumping the skin from below and reversing photo aging and other imperfections. Tiny holes (the size of a pore) ensure maximum results in one treatment. Controlled energy means a more comfortable patient experience. After the treatment you can return to work in five to seven days.
Good candidates for CO2 Fractional treatment are patients with light-to-medium skin tones and skin imperfections due to aging and sun damage. Many of our patients also have a Pearl Fractional treatment in combination with other cosmetic therapies. These include other Cutera laser and light procedures, such as Pearl, Laser Genesis and LimeLight. You can discuss combination treatment options with our practitioner.
The Pearl Fractional treatment addresses wrinkles, uneven skin tone, large pores, skin-laxity, age spots, sun damage and scarring all in session. My patients who have had this procedure tell me their it say their skin looks at least 10 years younger!”

Procedure time: There is a lot of information to review for post treatment care and some preparation before the actual treatment so schedule three hours in total.
Before the procedure: Avoid retinol products Aspirin, and vitamins or minerals for one week prior to treatment. Plenty of information will be given to the patient for post care and the instructions will be reviewed. Local Anesthetic is applied for patient comfort.
During the procedure: The sensation during treatment feels like a series of fast, hot pinches.
After the procedure: The skin will be covered in Vaseline for protection and to keep it moist as soon as the procedure is finished. Skin will look sunburned and must be protected from sun exposure.Pearl fractional CO2 Repair renders you housebound for five to seven days. Expect pinpoint bleeding, and oozing for 48 hours until the wounds close, as well as swelling and redness.
Most patients describe the treatment as a series of fast, hot pinches. A topical numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to treatment to alleviate some discomfort. Practitioners may choose to augment topical creams with other medications based on patient need. Treatments are safe and effective with rapid recovery. After treatment, the skin looks sunburned and may be slightly swollen. Patients report little or no discomfort post treatment. During post care, patients apply ointment to the skin for four to five days and should limit sun exposure and wear protective clothing.
