Time Takes Its Toll on Your Skin
What causes this?
Normal aging is unavoidable no matter how careful we are to avoid the sun. Skin loses its elasticity, vascularity (amount of blood vessels), and reparative responses through normal aging due to a decrease in the area of nutrient transfer in the Dermoepidermal Junction. The decrease in nutrient transfer dries out the skin, creating wrinkles all over the body.
Facial wrinkles, in particular, commonly cause reduced satisfaction of appearances in both men and women.
Smile lines (nasolabial lines) are wrinkles that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth. These are more prominent in women due to the make up of their skin in these areas.
Marionette lines are vertical wrinkles found at the corners of your mouth. These can make a person appear to be sad or angry due to their downturned appearance.
Smoker’s lines are vertical lines that appear above the lips. They are caused by pressing your lips together, so are therefore unavoidable, even in non-smokers. These lines can be worsened by smoking, hence the name.
Crows feet are lines that appear at the outside corners of the eyes and branch out in the shape of a crows foot.
- Botox is a botulinum toxin that works to rejuvenate an area of concern by releasing an active protein (peptide) into the skin to prevent muscle contraction for about a 3-month period. Through this incredible bio-chemical process, skin wrinkles can be temporarily reduced to produce younger looking skin and maintained with continued treatment.
- Dermal Fillers can be used to add volume to the skin in places where deep furrows or wrinkles are found. This is achieved through injection of this product and can be done during a brief break from your daily routine with no downtime.
